My Journey into Yoga

Hi, I’m Fiona. I live in beautiful Haarlem with my partner, Cindy, and our cats. I graduated with a Master’s in English Language & Literature in 2005, followed by a postgraduate teaching programme in 2006, and worked in secondary and higher education from 2004 to 2017. Throughout those years, especially during a challenging period of burnout, yoga and meditation were my anchor. I studied and practiced styles such as Raja, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative Yoga with respected teachers including Judith Lasater, and continued deepening my training while still working in education. When I left my career in higher education in 2017, stepping into yoga teaching felt like a natural continuation of the path I had already been walking for many years.

My Training & Experience

Over time my focus shifted from teaching yoga to practicing Thai bodywork. I took my first workshops in 2010, and by 2020 I felt called to study this healing art more deeply. I now work full-time as a massage therapist/bodyworker in my own studio, where my practice continues to grow. I have a strong foundation in Thai bodywork, having completed, repeated, and assisted multiple foundational trainings as well as a three-year Thai massage therapy program. I keep deepening my approach through ongoing study with internationally respected teachers in Europe, the US and Thailand, including advanced training in Osteothai and Chi Nei Tsang. Alongside my client work, I also offer training myself. Altogether, I have over 500 hours of yoga training and well over 1,000 hours of bodywork training, and I remain committed to lifelong learning in this craft I love.

What You Can Expect in My Classes

In my lessons, you can expect a calm and mindful approach, inspired by meditation, stillness, and the principles of mindfulness and Buddhist teachings. I blend yoga and Thai bodywork into a practice that encourages you to pause, breathe, and reconnect with your body and energy. My aim is to create a warm, compassionate space that is nurturing, relaxed, and open—inviting curiosity, self-discovery, and genuine connection.

What Yoga Means to Me

For me, yoga and Thai bodywork are not just activities—they are a way of life. I am deeply passionate about sharing this practice, here in Haarlem and beyond. Every day I feel grateful to do work I truly love, to be part of the yoga and Thai bodywork community, and to connect with others through the art of touch, presence, and mindful connection.
